Recovery Pump
Service Description
What is Recovery Pump ? The Recovery pump is a form of pneumatic compression designed to speed up recovery after strenuous exercise by improving circulation and reducing muscle soreness. Similar to a massage, the compression device helps flush out lactic acid and inflammation which can build up after exercise or following an injury How Do They Work? The device uses specialised attachments that slide onto the leg(s) like boots. These boots contain separate air chambers which fill up segmentally with air compressing the limb distally to proximally. Each segment of the attachment will first compress in a pulsing manner and then release. This will repeat for each section as the compression pattern works its way up your limb, effectively mimicking the muscle pump of the legs to move pain-causing fluid and metabolites out of the limb. How Long Does The Treatment Last? Treatment can last between 15-30 minutes depending on the client's preference. However just 15 minutes has been shown to provide substantial results. At Optimum Therapy, we like to use the Recovery pump as part of both Sports therapy, physiotherapy and exercise recovery. Whether you are rehabilitating an injury or just recovering from a heavy workout, you will love these boots!
